Organizing, tabbing, and paginating medical records. Summarizing, translating, and interpreting medical records. Screening or investigating cases for merit. Defining the applicable standards of care. Defining deviations from and adherences to the applicable standards of care. Identifying and reviewing relevant medical records, hospital policies and procedures, other essential documents, and tangible items. Assessing alleged damages and/or injuries. Identifying factors that caused or contributed to the alleged damages and/or injuries. Identifying and recommending potential defendants. Locating and interfacing with expert witnesses. Analyzing and comparing expert witness reports and other work products. Communicating with potential testifying experts. Serving as liaison between the attorney and healthcare providers, testifying experts, parties, witnesses, and other consultants. Preparing interrogatories. Identifying types of testifying experts needed.

Conducting literature search and integrating literature and standards/guidelines into the case analysis. Researching and analyzing validity and reliability of research studies relied on by all parties. Developing reports for use as study tools by the legal team. Reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing depositions, including past testimony. Reviewing and drafting responses to various legal documents and correspondence for attorney’s signature. Attending depositions, trials, review panels, and arbitration/mediation hearings. Interviewing plaintiff and defense clients, key witnesses, and experts. Develop life care plans. Coordinating and attending independent medical exams. Preparing deposition and trial examination (cross or direct) questions. Consulting with healthcare providers. Assisting in exhibit preparation. Helping prepare witnesses and experts for deposition and trial. Coordinating and assisting in facilitating focus groups and mock trials. Expanding attorney’s medical library.
